What do Home and Community Care (HACC)
services consist of?
• Personal Care
• Home maintenance and clearing
• Meals on Wheels
• Respite Care and others depending on each separate council.
Who has access to these services?
All persons aged over the age of 65 are eligible to receive HACC services.
Through CEGS CELAS is able to provide facilitated access to these services to members of the Spanish speaking community.
What is the Culturally Equitable
Gateways Strategy (CEGS)?
CEGS aims to improve access to mainstream HACC services for people from
culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. The Strategy’s
objective is to improve the responsiveness of local governments to people
from CALD communities through local governments and ethno specific agencies
working in local partnerships.
How Can CELAS help?
Interested persons should contact CELAS to arrange an appointment to discuss
their needs with a dedicated social worker.
CELAS will not only provide relevant information, but who will also liaise
with council to arrange service provision on behalf of the client, no matter
which area of metropolitan Melbourne the client resides in.
